Dylan Harlan

Dylan Harlan is the Director of Bands at Oxford Academy where he directs the concert and jazz bands. In his two years at Oxford Academy, the bands have performed in local and national festivals including a festival in Chicago Symphony Hall. Prior to working at Oxford Academy, Dylan was the Band Director at Katella High School where he doubled the size and improved the quality of the program. He also taught at Saddleback High School, in Santa Ana, where he led the Marching Band to become the SCSBOA 1A Division champions. He was an OC Parenting Teacher of the Year Finalist in 2014 and received the Rising Star Award from SCSBOA in 2018. Dylan received his Bachelor Degree and Masters Degree from California State University, Fullerton studying with Dr. Mitch Fennell and James Rotter. He currently resides in Mission Viejo, CA with his wife Carol, son Kaydon and daughter Ady.

The Oxford Academy Band and Orchestra Program is made up of over 500 musicians overseen by Strings and Orchestra Director, Deanna Miner and Band Directors Dylan Harlan and Bob Anthony. The Oxford Instrumental Music Program has a history of successful ensembles which would not be possible without the high caliber students and amazing support from the parents that takes place every year.
